Tim Mages is the Chief Executive Officer of Expansion Capital Group (ECG), where he leads the firm’s strategy focused on leveraging technology, data, and analytics to deliver fast, transparent, and efficient access to capital for small businesses. He previously served as ECG’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing capital markets, regulatory strategy, business development, and sales.

Before joining ECG, Tim spent seven years as an investment banker covering specialty finance companies and five years with SBA-licensed SBIC funds, providing debt capital to small businesses.

Shaped by his experience lending through the post-2008 financial crisis, Tim brings a disciplined, customer-first perspective to small business finance. Under his leadership, ECG has built a technology-enabled underwriting and decisioning platform designed to improve speed, precision, and clarity across the customer experience.
